Battlefield Bad Company 2 Map Packs

EA Games releasing new DLC

Ea Games have announced that they are releasing free downloadable content to gamers on all platforms on the 30th of March. This will be available through the BFBC2 store when it opens up or downloadable as an update through Steam (although I can't confirm the Steam release date yet).

EA has restated its "extensive paid digital content plan" for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

During the Wedbush Morgan financial conference, lead money-man Eric Brown said game owners will have "multiple opportunities to spend five, 10 or 15 dollars on additional content in the next six months or so".

This March 30th DLC will include

Arica Harbor Conquest mode - US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base. Collateral damage is of no consequence. Capture and secure tactical positions in Conquest Mode across the vast Arica Harbor map.

Laguna Presa Rush mode - The valley and surrounding mountains possess a strategic value in the battle for South America, and an infantry assault supported by light armor vehicles is likely by both armies as US forces defend the nearby Dam.

I am also hearing rumours that you will be able to either download or purchase new weapons and camo but it is unconfirmed at this stage.

Steelbacks Training

Steelbacks trainingBattlefield Steelbacks start training!

The Steelbacks are growing to such a size that it is now possible to close our server down for a few hours once a week to train together and compete against one another.

A requirement has previously been mentioned in the forum and also online that we need to be able to work on specific skills like tanking, flying and other infantry based team play however, this is difficult to achieve when other gamers are constantly trying to kill you.

It has also been mentioned that it would be fun to play against one another so that we can learn more about what each individual Battlefield gamers skills are.

What we are going to do is lock the server down for the first time on Sunday the 21st of March at 19:00hrs for 3 hours so that the Steelbacks can work in private and in our own time on whatever abilities that we need to hone.

There won't be a specific structure for the first session but what we will do is find out over at the forums what each individual Steelback wants from the training and construct a game plan from there.

Battlefield BC2, a Success

Battlefield Bad Company 2Battlefield Bad Company 2 a Success

Battlefield BC2 has been enjoying the recent sunny weather from the top of the charts recently despite the developers announcing that the game won't support private dedicated servers, mods or a developer console. The PC version having the most online players at one time beating the active amount of players on PS3 and also on XBOX, although not combined.

This popularity has come with a price though as we Steelbacks have all seen, overloading the servers and causing countless connection and authorisation issues.

On top of these problems, Punkbuster has had updating issues on servers randomly kicking players out of servers for not having the latest version of Punkbuster installed. Although these teething problems are consistent at the moment and can keep some servers empty, including ours, the game seems to be the most played FPS in many years beating the total amount of active gamers at one time that Battlefield 2 ever did.

Frankly, with these spots and scars, IWNET still gets it's butt handed to it.

EA Games working on server issues

Battlefield Bad Company 2EA Games working to fix Battlefield Bad Company 2 server issues across all platforms

EA Games have acknowledged the server outages that all Battlefield gamers across all platforms have been experiencing. Posted on the 7th, this is the last word of information from EA Games so far and it suggests that they were not expecting a 400% increase in server use from Battlefield Bad Company 2's predecessor Battlefield 2 and this load is causing the problems.

"All teams are actively engaged in diagnosis and remediation. We are adding additional services to alleviate load.  Despite having a major infrastructure in place, the peak traffic this weekend has been huge, 400% higher than any other Battlefield's peak simultaneous users."

It does suggest that they are working very hard at fixing the issues so for the sake of a great game and awesome community the Steelbacks, i'm happy to be patient.
