Steelbacks Irc Channel

Steelbacks have a permanent IRC channel for members to idle in when not on TS or in-game, perhaps during the day at your futile job when the boss isn't supervising you (because he has long since given up on turning your feckless hide into a valuable employee), or at home playing some tedious timesink MMO that has claimed thousands of your hours you will never get back (a strange game Professor Falken, the only winning move is not to play).

It's also the emergency point of call on the very rare occasions we might temporarily lose both game server and TS server to gremlins at the same time and need some place to gather for direction.

Server details:
Server: irc.synirc.net
Channel: join channel #sb

You can either connect using a  browser client like Mibbit, or a freeware application like Irssi.

BFBC 2 Launcher released

Gossamer Solid have released a BFBC launcher that allows players to launch BFBC 2 with previously 'hidden' settings (unless of course you have already ventured into the game's .ini files...).

Settings that can be configured with the launcher include:

"DirectX Level, FoV, Water Detail, Shadows detail and many many more"

Head on over to ModDB to grab it!

Battlefield BC2 Command Center Remote Admin

BFBC2 Command Center

This is a great tool for remote admin on Battlefield BC2 and one that i've been using myself for our own Steelbacks server. It's a little buggy when it comes to entering your server details in, maybe just with XP but seems to be ok on Win 7 pro.

It has it all. You can change the server options, map listing, reserved slot list, ban and kick players and also view the log in realtime. this is the tool of choice at the moment for remote admin and one i'm going to stick with for a little while.

Grab it here server admins!

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Admin Tool

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Remote Admin Tool

This tool has recently been released to the public and is available for download. The tool has been put together by the guys from 'Combat Testing' who are the company in charge of Bad Company 2's PC beta.

we've tested the tool here at Steelbacks and it's clean and easy to use. You have to run a Daemon on your localhost which allows more customisation options that your stock RCON tool and then your client over the top of that. It doesn't absorb too much of your gaming memory at all and is a stable piece of kit.

Only down side at the moment though is that I can't see a log anywhere. I don't think that it has one at this stage although there is a roadmap published on the site with some great features coming up in the next releases.
