Hi welcome to the Steelbacks community site : )
The Steelbacks are a new community that is dedicated to giving you all the information, news, tips and resources that you'll need to enjoy the mighty Battlefield bad Company 2. the reason this site is set up is more of a celebration. We have been playing the battlefield series since the very beginning on the PC and felt somewhat cheated when DICE took the game over to the consoles with Bad Company. We tried to enjoy Arma 2 (which is a good game) and also Op flashpoint 2 (Which we really didn't get on with) but no other game could take Battlefields place.
We went through the Peer to Peer matchmaking services that online games started using and protested on forums all around the web with the rest of you saying that 'We need dedicated servers so we can build a community and manage our own servers'. It's impossible to have a good game with peer to peer and it's even worse when your up against someone that's about to log off who is hosting. Ends the game instantly.
Call us slightly old fashioned but the Steelbacks are all about PC gaming and battlefield and we are extremely happy that Battlefield is back on the PC in the form of Battlefield BC2. Yes, we have been playing the Beta and yes, I can assure you, it's Battlefield again and it's back on the PC.
We have an article on the site already which is called 'Dedicated to PC gamers'. It reports on what DICE have to say about dedicated servers and that they are going to give them to us. Yes they aren't releasing the source for our own home servers but they are indeed giving us the option to rent our own servers and administer them : ) Thanks DICE. Steelbacks actually think you may have just about saved the PC FPS scene.
What are we looking for?
The Steelbacks are looking to create a community written by you, the Battlefield gamer! e want to have not only an online resource for Battlefield gamers that includes patches, mods, your own server administered daily, news, info and also very importantly a chance to play on an elite team wearing the proud team tags :SB: We want to have not only a community for everyone but also a team for the competitive gamer (like me Akaskero).
How do I join?
Well I don't want to go into this here but take a look at the tab at the top and the little menu on the left of the screen. Please register your interest with the community for now. We will be building a team and providing you all a forum and other great bits once the game kicks off.
Steelbacks?
The name Steelbacks come from the 3rd Batallion Royal Anglian regiment who ':SB: Akaskero' is in (that's me) so I figured it would be a good name for a Battlefield clan. The founders of the Steelbacks are:

Members of the Steelbacks are on Steam so your more than welcome to get in contact with us through that means. Just try searching for us through Steam or even in the Battlefield Bad Company friends application.
